The recent Megavideo bust has been all over the news lately. The story is quite incredible and the numbers are staggering.
The US government, in its indictment against the “Mega Conspiracy,” said that the company had pulled in US$175 million since its inception, most coming from users who paid for premium download accounts. The money was spent lavishly.
Stories like this one amaze me yet it is all to easy to venture off into dangerous territory on the web. The internet remains a frontier still being explored by its inhabitants. Hopefully it will remain a useful tool for everyone and not become a noose around the neck of free speech and information.
